We love to read and we love a good story (we hope that much is obvious by now!). But we are also adults. We look at books through our teacher/mom lenses, and so sometimes it’s helpful to get a kid perspective. Today’s guest post is written by Jessica’s eleven-year-old son, Cole, who loves to read humorous books.
Why I Picked It Up:
My Aunt Sarah sent me this book all the way from England. She’s always sending us great gifts, so I knew I’d love whatever she sent. When I opened it up, I saw this book. I had never heard of it before and my mom quickly grabbed it from my hands. It said that it was “Roald Dahlesque” and so my mom almost took it from me. After I read the back I realized that my Aunt must really know me. It sounded funny. 
Why I Finished It:
I began reading it right away. I wanted to figure out if the main character was going to get in trouble for wearing a dress. That wouldn’t be allowed in my school. One of my favorite parts was when Dennis, otherwise known as Denise (his girl name) goes on a trip with Lisa. Lisa thinks that “Denise” is her French pen pal. So Lisa takes “Denise” to her French class. The teacher gets all excited, because she thinks that “she” is from France. When “Denise” doesn’t understand what the French teacher is saying, he says it’s because her accent is poor! This book was very funny. The main character, Denise/Dennis is not very truthful, but he is amusing!
Who I Would Give It To:
I would recommend this book to any and all sarcastic fourth – sixth graders. My mom thinks this book is great for all kids who like Roald Dahl and other witty books.
